Self-managed Instana backend support Tencent cloud managed Kafka service as the datastore.

A large number of customers run their workloads on the public cloud platform. At the same time, many of our customers in GCG region will use the resources provided by Tencent Cloud to build their management platforms, such as self-managed Instana Backend, and our Instana backend requires the use of a couple different types of datastore components, most public cloud service providers also provide managed service services of these datastore components, such as managed kafka service
Currently, in the operator based self-managed Instana backend deployment, we only support self-managed Kafka clusters, but not Kafka services managed by CSP. This makes customers feel disappointed, Customers expect us to support kafka Managed Services in Tencent cloud, the main reasons include:
1. The cost of resource usage will be optimized. Customers usually have a framework agreement with public cloud service providers. Direct use of managed services will effectively reduce the cost of resources they need to run Instana Backend.
2. The cost of operation and maintenance is reduced. Customers do not need to spend a lot of work on the self-managed Kafka cluster. The high availability of the cluster, daily maintenance, and elastic scaling can be easily managed by the cloud service provider.
3. Better performance guarantee. The paid Managed Service provided by CSP usually has better concentration and resource allocation, and its performance is usually much better than that of the self-managed in-cluster datastore.
