Alert if Device does not respond to SNMP polling

Customer has faced instances where the monitored device is successfully discovered via SNMP but the SNMP daemon on the device freezes resulting in no successful SNMP polls while the device responds to ICMP. Customer wants to be notified when such a situation occurs so that proactive steps can be taken and the SNMP daemon on the monitored device is resolved.

SevOne calculates the indicators/second in the last 24 hours and displays this information in the device manager. This indicates that there is a way to determine the indicators/second. The same logic can be applied to identify 0 indicators in 3 polling cycles. 3 is illustrated as an example.

How should it work? There should be a setting at the cluster level saying "Alert if SNMP polling fails after 3 SNMP polling attempts". The customer can input the 3 number. The 3 number would mean that 0 indicators were received in the 3 polling cycles and should be considered as an alert.

    Hi Ankit, you should be able to accomplish this today. There is a comparison you can use in conditions called, time since newest data point. If you create a policy on an SNMP indicator that is available on the majority of your devices, you can create a single policy to encompass everything. We suggest looking for the SysUptime indicator which is part of the generic MIB and should be available on most devices. Here is a screenshot of an example trigger condition.
